The Siberian originally hails from Russia, where they have appeared in artwork and folklore for 1000 years. They’re a naturally developed breed, a working cat from the subarctic forests of Siberia, prized for their hunting prowess and ability to keep mice and rats from the food stores. Siberians have been owned by Soviet presidents and Russian Prime Ministers, but only found their way to the United States in 1990. Siberian Cats today still roam Siberia farms and are still very much on the same fresh and natural meat base hunting or on a diet consisting of homemade beef grind, boiled white fish, raw goat milk, quail eggs and grated raw cheese as topper. Siberian cats require extra care to prevent any potential health issues that may otherwise occur by feeding them a diet consisting of low-grade commercial foods that are unsuited for the breed’s requirements.
Starches and sugars in dry cat foods may lead to health issues such as diabetes, inflammation, arthritis, urinary tract diseases, and obesity. Both the act of processing food and the feeding of grains changes the cat's naturally acidic PH. Beginning with the mouth (causing dental disease) and ending with their digestive and urinary tracts (IBD, renal failure and FLUTD). Taigamoon Cattery, does not allow kibble to be fed to our Siberians.

If feeding commercial canned food, shop and offer your Siberian different brands and flavors. Try to identify three different canned foods that your cat enjoys and rotate through them.
